Sculpture transport in Toulouse: Bovis Fine Art Midi-Pyrénées handled the packing, lifting and installation of Jean Jullien’s work “L’Auto-Auteur” for the Rose Festival.
In August 2025, the teams of Bovis Fine Art Midi-Pyrénées carried out a high-level technical and artistic operation: the transport and handling of the sculpture “L’Auto-Auteur” by artist Jean Jullien. This intervention took place as part of the Rose Festival, following its exhibition at Les Abattoirs – Musée du FRAC Occitanie Toulouse for “Le Musée imaginaire d’Oli.”
A Specialized Handling Operation in Toulouse
The transfer of this monumental work required all the expertise of our specialists in sculpture transport in Toulouse. From its removal at the premises of La Dépêche, the sculpture was carefully packed on a custom-made platform designed by our carpenters and technicians, ensuring optimal protection against vibrations and shocks during transport.
The delivery and reinstallation of the work at the Rose Festival site were then carried out using our 100-ton crane truck, specifically adapted to the handling of monumental artworks and heavy loads. This technical solution combined millimetric precision with maximum safety during lifting and positioning phases.
“L’Auto-Auteur”, a Work by Jean Jullien
The sculpture “L’Auto-Auteur” was born from a creative dialogue between Jean Jullien and artist Oli, whose writings become the tattoos engraved on the giant’s steel body. Made of sheet steel, this unique piece is part of a series of sculptures covered in inscriptions, echoing urban graffiti.
First displayed in the courtyard of Les Abattoirs during the exhibition “Le Musée imaginaire d’Oli”, it was later showcased in the festive and cultural setting of the Rose Festival, reaffirming the central role of contemporary art in Toulouse’s cultural landscape.
Le Musée imaginaire d’Oli
Presented at Les Abattoirs – Musée – FRAC Occitanie Toulouse, the exhibition “Le Musée imaginaire d’Oli” was the result of a collaboration between Toulouse-based rapper Oli and artist Jean Jullien. Together, they created a poetic and monumental universe where words and sculptures interact to bring to life a unique museum, open to all. This exhibition highlighted the importance of bridges between contemporary art, music and writing, further establishing Toulouse as a major hub of artistic creation.
