Bovis Fine Art oversees the installation of monumental artworks in Monaco for Manolo Valdés’ exhibition on the Larvotto Promenade
Bovis Fine Art Côte d’Azur recently carried out a project of international scope: the installation of seven monumental sculptures by Spanish artist Manolo Valdés on the Larvotto Promenade in Monaco.
This achievement, completed on behalf of our client Opera Gallery Monaco, perfectly illustrates the expertise of the Bovis Group in the installation of artworks in Monaco, even within demanding urban environments.
Exceptional logistics for a large-scale project
- Two sculptures weighing 2,800 kg each, requiring precise lifting and anchoring.
- One sculpture transported in a Category 2 exceptional convoy, with motorcycle escort to Monaco.
- A significant technical challenge: verifying ground load resistance on the Larvotto Promenade, requiring preliminary studies and adapted solutions.
Under the coordination of our Fine Art team based in Rousset (Aix-en-Provence) and with logistical support from our specialists in Antibes, our technicians even traveled to Madrid for specific training in the handling and assembly of these monumental artworks.
Thanks to the expertise of our specialized crane operators from Bovis Fine Art Côte d’Azur (06), the installation was carried out safely and successfully at night, in the heart of the Principality.
The Exhibition: Manolo Valdés at Larvotto
From August 6 to December 30, 2025, the esplanade overlooking Larvotto Beach will host seven monumental sculptures by Manolo Valdés.
The exhibition will feature:
- Four Infante Margarita sculptures in aluminum.
- Two Reina Mariana sculptures in amber and aquamarine tones.
- An impressive Monumental Head adorned with a Murano glass headdress.
These majestic works, nicknamed the “Mama,” will watch over the Principality for several months, offering residents and visitors a unique encounter between contemporary art and the Mediterranean landscape.
Manolo Valdés, a Master of Contemporary Sculpture
Born in Valencia in 1942, Manolo Valdés is one of the leading figures of contemporary Spanish art. Co-founder of the Equipo Crónica movement in the 1960s, he developed a distinctive artistic language, blending painting and monumental sculpture. His works draw inspiration from art history and boldly reinterpret classical icons, such as Velázquez’s Infantas, while incorporating modern materials (aluminum, bronze, Murano glass…).
Today, his works are exhibited worldwide, from New York to Paris, and Valdés is celebrated for his ability to merge tradition and modernity into powerful creations that are both majestic and poetic.
