Bovis Fine Art Aquitaine recently took part in a major initiative led by the Musée d’Orsay: “100 Works that Tell the Climate Story”, a national project highlighting the connection between art and climate through loans of artworks to 30 cultural institutions across France.
As part of this mission, our Bovis Fine Art Aquitaine agency ensured the safe transport of several works from the prestigious Musée d’Orsay and other French cultural institutions, including:
- Transport of two paintings from the Musée d’Orsay in Paris to the Maison du Négociant, Museum of Art and History in Cognac.
- Transfer of a loan between the Musée des Augustins in Toulouse (31) and Tulle (19).
An Environmentally Friendly Art Transport Approach
Environmental commitment was at the core of this initiative. Aware of climate challenges, the Musée d’Orsay implemented measures to reduce the carbon footprint of these artwork loans, including:
- Optimizing packaging: prioritizing careful soft packing for short-distance transports and reusing crates whenever possible to avoid the unnecessary production of new custom crates.
- Optimizing transport logistics: consolidating shipments to reduce the number of exclusive transports and maximize logistical efficiency.
